Historic West Village Adaptive Re-Use
New York City
Tradecraft's principal spearheaded a significant legacy project encompassing the acquisition, design, approvals, and sales process on behalf of the corporate ownership. A key milestone of this endeavor involved seeking approval from the New York City Landmark Preservation Committee to add two additional floors to a 100-year-old two-story building. The achievement of this approval was the result of skillfully balancing an extensive restoration process for the existing structure while ensuring that the architectural addition harmonized with both the building itself and the surrounding neighborhood.
Attaining approval entailed navigating a comprehensive public process, requiring seamless coordination with multiple stakeholders. Tradecraft diligently collaborated with the Landmark Preservation Committee, Local Community Boards, elected officials, and the Department of Buildings to successfully advance the project. Through careful consideration of the historical and architectural significance of the building, Tradecraft's principal ensured that the restoration process upheld the integrity of the structure, while the addition seamlessly blended with the existing aesthetic and the surrounding environment. This intricate balancing act between preservation and expansion demonstrates Tradecraft's expertise in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, ensuring the project's compliance with regulations and maintaining the character of the neighborhood.
